The work-study positions with Student Life require that the successful applicant is enrolled in at least 6 credits during the summer semester. All work-study positions can be applied for through the CareerLink program, or by directly submitting a resume and cover letter to Whitney or Student Life.

SOLAR Activity Coordinator – 1 position for 60 hours

Job Description: Under the guidance of the Student Life Programmer(Whitney), the SOLAR Activity Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting SOLAR members, as well as scheduling and conducting outdoor outings and activities for the Student Outdoor Life and Recreation club.

 SPECIFIC DUTIES: The SOLAR Activity Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting members and planning an assortment of recreational activities. These may consist of day trips that range from backpacking, snow tubing, and rock climbing. The incumbent meets with the Student Life Programmer on a bi-weekly basis to update on the club’s activity and suggestions on how to expand the club. 

QUALIFICATIONS: – General knowledge of campus services, procedures and regulations – Must have a First Aid certificate; Standard or Wilderness is highly recommended – Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the critical ability to handle conflicts tactfully with minimal turmoil – Familiar with computer programs: Word, Excel, and Publisher – Must have attended UFV for at least two semesters prior to term of employment – Be diligent with administration of waiver forms. Should have own reliable transportation. Knowledge of trails and parks in the Fraser Valley is an asset.
